How will the web change with ChatGPT?

We asked him directly. The sensation was that of attending a new episode of Black Mirror in which Doretta82 is once again the protagonist of the web.

Do you remember Doretta?

She was a nice virtual assistant, active on the now-buried MSN messaging platform. Alluring web researcher and nice entertainer, Doretta82 was a brilliant chatbot for the time when the 56k modem connected sounded like the intro of an acid techno piece.

That’s right: brilliant, as the result of a very intelligent characterization that made a virtue of necessity. In fact, at the time, chatbots were very underdeveloped and the sensation of talking to a computer was evident even to newbies in the sector. In short, it seemed necessary to find a trick that could convincingly justify his extravagant approach.

Suddenly the genius: Doretta would have been a total loser. Her personality was therefore cleverly traced within her blog, in which she spoke of herself as a bewildered girl who forgot her glasses in the refrigerator. And so the project began to work, to the point that no one complained about the technical shortcomings of a fake interlocutor, nor about the inefficiency of the artificial intelligence service offered by MSN. On the contrary, we all began in chorus to humanize her, often pitying her and – even more often – insulting her.

It was 2007. Since then things have changed a lot.

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is an extremely smart chatbot officially launched on November 30, 2022, by OpenAI, a company that develops advanced artificial intelligence technologies. It can be used to satisfy various needs, but to understand its potential we could define it as a search engine for your questions, often even more effective than Google. This is because its AI is programmed to answer your queries incredibly fast and reliably, albeit with some understandable defection. The model was pre-trained with a huge amount of texts available online, through which he learned to express millions of notions with natural language.

ChatGPT, however, does not have internet access. And that’s a big deal if you want to be an AI behind the times.

To this end, we asked ChatGPT a simple question:

Who won the World Cup in Qatar?

The soccer World Cup organized by FIFA was held in Qatar in 2022. At the moment the world cup has not yet been played. The competition is scheduled from 21 November to 18 December. The winner of the World Cup will only be determined at the end of the competition.

Perhaps a little far from feeling satisfied, we also asked ChatGPT for the release date of the next Måneskin album. His answer?

Sorry, I don’t have up-to-date information regarding the next Måneskin album or a release date for it as my knowledge cutoff is 2021 and I don’t have access to up-to-date information. I advise you to check their official profiles or reliable sources to get more information about a possible next album.

We tell you. It will be released on January 20th.

But we still appreciate the intellectual honesty of OpenAI’s software.

How will the web change with ChatGPT?

Let’s get to the point: how will the digital world change with the advent of such an intelligent bot? We asked the person concerned and this time the feeling was a bit like watching a teaser of a new season of Black Mirror in which MSN’s Doretta becomes a university professor. Charlie Brooker (producer of the series, ed.), if you read us: there is really no need.

The artificial intelligence started typing letters on the keyboard as fast as a human would. Letter after letter, the words began to form on the screen, developing a meaningful text with very clean formatting.

Here is his answer:

ChatGPT is a large language model developed by OpenAI that has been trained on a large number of texts and conversations. It can be used to autonomously generate text, answer questions, and support human communication.

The ChatGPT model can be used to develop a variety of applications, including chatbots, virtual assistants, text generation systems, and more. Using large language models like ChatGPT is likely to lead to more interaction between devices and people through natural conversation, making interactions more fluid and natural.

Additionally, using language models like ChatGPT to automatically generate content like articles, news, and product descriptions can increase productivity and help you reach a wider audience. However, it is important to note that it is not possible to predict exactly how these technologies will evolve over time and how they will be used in practice.

The limits and potential of artificial intelligence in the digital world.

If properly queried, ChatGPT is an excellent starting tool for creating textual content. Yet the world of the web is much more complex than one might imagine. First, chatbots can never really replace real people. This is because the web is saturated with content and millions of new ones are published every day with very high standards.

For example, the data from eMarketer indicates that there are 1.074 billion global users active on Instagram. In Italy alone, 42.3% of the population has an Instagram account that publishes new valuable content for their communities daily.
Hundreds of new sites are born every minute, for a daily amount equal to about 252,000 new websites.

This essentially means two things:

1 _ The web is extremely competitive and digital and strategic skills appear crucial for success.

2 _ Attention to the quality of content is of primary importance when it comes time to publish something new. The difference, therefore, is made by the human contribution, planning, and forward-looking management of the business project in its entirety.

While on the one hand, the advent of artificial intelligence will speed up some processes, on the other hand, it will require businesses that want to work online to use sleeping neurons to develop enthralling texts, captivating creatures, and winning strategies.

In Xanderblog we have been integrating artificial intelligence for some time , the result? Better performing advertising campaigns thanks to an unprecedented amount of information that ChatGPT (and not only) makes available to everyone.
